The Kingdom of God

Jesus "went throughout every city and village, preaching and showing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God" (Luke 8:1). He prayed:

"Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven" (Matthew 6:10).

Today the Kingdom of God is usually regarded as little more than a dream - a hypothetical notion of the peaceful place the world could be - were it not for human nature.

Bible prophecy, however, reveals that the Kingdom of God will literally displace and supersede nations like those we are familiar with today. Jesus will return and rule with loving authority, right here on Earth. The war-torn, corrupt world we know today will be history. Jesus will return,

"And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts hath spoken it.
" (Micah 4:3,4)

Hundreds of years before Christ, the Old Testament prophet Daniel foretold of kings and nations rising and falling. Down through history one nation would replace another until all would be replaced by the Kingdom of God:

"And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever." (Daniel 2:44)

This is the good news - the gospel - of the coming Kingdom of God. Unfortunately there are dark times ahead. God allows - for a purpose - the wars and all the other hardships that mankind inflicts upon itself. Prophecy shows God will intervene and save us from self-destruction. God is in control, and always has been, and always will be. God has a plan in place. Every one of us can be part of that plan. There is a great purpose being worked out here below.
